Acts 17:16-22
Paul reasoned with Jews, Gentiles, Epicurean and Stoic philosophers, and I do not see evidence of him 'tempting' God.

Job 13:3
3 But I desire to speak to the Almighty
and to argue my case with God.

God reasons with man
Exodus 4:11; Exodus 20:5; Exodus 20:11; Isaiah 1:18; Isaiah 5:3; Isaiah 5:4; Isaiah 43:26; Hosea 4:1

1 Corinthians 10:15 I speak to sensible people; judge for yourselves what I say.

1 Peter 3:15 But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,

I will further say, however, that it is not reason alone which we rely on, but reason and an open heart to God.(1 Corinthians 1:18-28; 1 Corinthians 2:1-14)

But may I close with this. The book of Ecclesiastes is a man not only reasoning and searching why to believ what he belives, but DOING all the things to experience them to pass them on to others. This of all things--- him taking part in all of it, I would think, would make God wonder a little about motive, which you call 'tempt' God.
God is not a God to be 'feared' (the Western definition of Fear, not the context of 'Fear the Lord your God' in the OT, that spoke not of Fear as we know it, but awe and reverence. Don't believe me? Grab the Hebrew Text and see the various ways it could be translated). Living life cowering in the corner waiting for the shoe to drop. He wants to love us and have us love in return, not because he needs it, but because he wants it. Just like we want love in our relationships with our friends and family here on earth.
And yes, to whomever asks, I will again back this up with Scripture. Those of you who don't care about scripture? I'll reason together with you, and hopefully show you what and why I believe.
