Not everybody is prepared to understand, let alone agree, with your post batchman, but it seems to have more relevance in my life (and my continuous journey with The Lord). The former ("elementary doctrine", Hebrews 6:1) that we learn as babes in Christ ("men of the flesh", 1 Corinthians 3:1) while we were fed with milk (verse 2) is a good foundation (Biblical Christianity) at the time, but we learn to feel too comfortable with the 'status quo' (anti-establishment lingo from the hippie era of the 1960's) and never really grow to achieve Godly Christianity. We become well educated in the laws of perfection and very judicious, able to notice all of the flaws and discrepancies that prevent OTHER PEOPLE from achieving perfection (Phillipians 2:6 "...did not consider equality with God a thing to be grasped") while incessantly justifying our own in every way possible (including using the bible to do so). As well meaning as we are, the name of this forum is a good example of human nature being the limit of our understanding, it is the WORDS that humanity has available to express itself that limit the understanding of the most devout Christian (obviously, the 'flesh' is a great tool of the god of confusion IF we let it be). Very often, we seem to be anxious to call 'The wrath of God' upon each other and never understand that, in God's sight, WE (the human race) are ONE, and that our unforgiving attitude towards other people reflects our own unforgiving attitude towards ourself. Because of conflicts in our own conscience, we recognize that we are not perfect and attempt to exonerrate ourselves (instead of resting in The Lord's exonerration of us) in comparison to others by showing that we are not all THAT BAD.

It is human nature that we insist on maintaining control and always want to exonerrate ourselves (whether we realize it or not), so I don't know how much The Lord faults us for that, but I do think that we have the bad habit of grieving (disappointing) The Spirit.
