I'm sorry beej, I didn't mean for it to be mysterious, but maybe I can clarify. 40679 has love in his heart for the people, not just God up in heaven. The partisan, bureaucratic and empirical study of God does not satisfy him, but the compassion and sentiment taught by the Spirit more common to seasoned Christians is what he is zealous for. In evangelism, unbelievers resist mainly because they think that our love is for God only and not them. While EXCESSIVE use of the t.v. as a learning medium is not ideal, God can use anything. Debate is a battlefield cluttered with silly controversy, but is good preparation for evangelism.
What I was saying is that mainline Christianity has indoctrinated us into the simple avoidance of 'improper behavior', as though we are to pursue a 'properness award' or 'sin-avoider' gold medal. Instead, true spiritual growth depends on making the DISTINCTION between GOOD and EVIL (and avoiding all the little evils that prevent good from happening), thereby having COMPASSION on those who would suffer EVIL (Hebrews 5:14). He did not come to bring peace on earth so that everybody could continue to do whatever they want regardless of it's morality or merit, He came to make a clear division between good and evil (Luke 12:51), which is what the sword of the spirit does (Ephesians 6:17 and Hebrews 4:12).
The mis-teachings of mainline Christianity are unnoticed because of human nature:
We are taught that love involves the fear of God (Isaiah 29:13, 1 John 4:18), but fear is only for the unbeliever that must come to know God (Proverbs 1:7). After coming to know Him, we should no longer fear Him, and after learning to walk with Him, graduate from milk to solid food (Hebrews 5:14).
We were each given a measure of faith for the Lord's purpose in each of our lives.
