if i understand your question correctly,the "we" pertains to all of mankind.every man,woman,child, that has ever lived,or ever will live.
mat.20:16 "so thelast will be first ,and he first last. for many are called,but few are chosen". god is not trying to save the world now.

i personally think everyone is trying to get to heaven to quick.
