You described our church, which is probably a carbon copy of everyone else's church. 20 minutes of worship- which also includes announcements which we could read in the bulletin anyway,5 minutes for an offeratory, a 20 minute 3 point sermon, and a response at the end, which usually no one takes the pastor up on, because no one wants to let anyone else know they've got problems, and pastor, you better let us out before noon because we've got dinner in the oven (or at my parent's old church, a 12:00 tee time).

I've been doing exactly the same thing, Ev. Going back to Acts and discovering that there wasn't a church service like what we have now anywhere. They were encouraging each other to keep the faith in the face of inprisonment and death by sword! Look at the phrases contained within: "the hour of prayer," "meeting from house to house," "praying daily," "supping together daily," "adding to their numbers daily." Plus "sharing what they had," and when a couple didn't, they were both struck down dead by God independently of one another.

How I desire to truly be like Christ. I know we all do.
