Dear 44031, thank you for taking time out of your day to join in this discussion.

First, please click on the web links that I put in my first response above. If the Church actually "worshipped" Our Blessed Mother, then why did it expel the Collyridians in around AD 350-450 for doing just that? Wouldn't that be, at the very least, somewhat confusing to the faithful of those days?

Second, the "Hail Mary" thing is not about worshipping Mary, otherwise the Church would not have logically approved the prayer. For if it were about worshipping Mary, it would have been condemned as Collyridian and tossed out into the trash.

Third, if the "Hail Mary" were being abused as a "worship prayer" to Mary, the the Early Fathers of the Church would have condemned it as such. In fact, they did the opposite, expressing their love for the Blessed Mother.

Fourth, there are other writers more learned and elequent than I can ever be who can answer some of your questions better than I ever could. So permit me to give you some links to aid you in your research:

Mr. Mario Derksen of "Catholic Insight" has written several articles on Mary, among other things.

1) "There's Something About Mary": http://www.cathinsight.com/apologetics/mary.htm

2) "Mary is the Mother of God": http://www.cathinsight.com/apologetics/mother_of_god.htm

And Mr. James Akin has written a dense yet readable essay called "The Key To Understanding Mary", which I commend to you for deep study:

Your other questions I hope to respond to at a later time. But for the moment, I encourage you to read the above linked articles and essays, as well as the ones I weblinked in an earlier post.

I appreciate your interest in posting to my post, and I thank you for your time and patience with me. May Christ richly bless you and your loved ones.
