No, God did not create us to be ‘fruitarians’, nor did He create us to be vegan vegetarians. Clearly, the Bible advocates the consumption of animal products. Our Lord Jesus Christ ate fish and since He was a Jew, there is no reason to believe that He did not eat Passover Lamb. Yes, our original diet was vegetarian, but God knew before He created us that one day He would allow us to eat animal products. That’s why, in His infinite wisdom, He created us as omnivores able to eat both plants and animals.
While it is true that some people do better on a vegetarian program, others do need to have animal products in their diet for optimal health. People do have different metabolic types, and everyone does not do well on the same dietary program.
It concerns me that some people teach that ‘God’s health plan’ is a vegan vegetarian diet. This is simply un-Biblical.
Please beware of people who forbid you to abstain from foods that God created for our good. Please beware of people who say that you are ‘not following God’s health plan’ if you are eating animal products. Clearly, they are deceivers.
The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer. 1 Timothy 4:1-5
