You know, I live a healthy lifestyle every day.
I cook lentils for myself, eat tofu, fruit, veggies, etc. I don't drink soda or even most juices, since they are so laden with sugars.
I take my dog for walks and runs almost every day, and I have had an almost daily yoga practice for many years (though lately that has not been happening.)
I have gained weight due to intense depression, and the fact that though I eat well at home, when I go to work, there is all sorts of sweets and I can't seem to resist them (unless I'm fasting.) I also seem to have had bad energy level, which I can't overcome.
I didn't do the fasting in order to loose weight. I did the first one just to know what fasting is like. I did the second because at the beginning of the year, I had planned on fasting every four months like Burroughs recommends.
What does it matter what someone's reason for fasting is, anyway? It just sounds like you're being judgemental and ego-centric about how you do the fast for the "right" reason, and others not.
What I found when fasting was that it felt great. I also found that it was almost hard for me to start eating again afterward, and that that nice, light, energetic feeling disappeared soon after returning to food (no matter what kind of food.) On the other hand, I never had a problem returning to food - gastrically speaking. I seem to have a very strong stomach, and can go right back to eating normally right after fasting. Last time I broke my fast, I ate just fruit/veggies for a day, and then slowly went normal.
