Hi Stoneliz,

I had my GB removed on 2/23, almost a month ago. I'm not going to lie, it wasn't that easy of a recovery. If you have the laproscopic method like I did which is 4 small incisions(one in the bellybutton, one in the chest, and two where the GB is located) , you will need the full 2wks off to recover. I had quite a bit of pain, but didn't take very much pain meds b/c they made me feel really sick. I decided to get mine out b/c I had stones which caused me to have attacks on a regular basis. I was tired of living with that pain and being afraid to eat anything. So far, almost a month out, I feel pretty good and I would say back to normal. I can eat basically anything, but am still staying away from fried and really fatty foods -they're not good for you anyways and I have no real desire to eat them since I spent so long avoiding them. I tried some natural methods i.e. olive oil flush you will hear so much about, but unfortunately it didn't work for me -wish it had. I think that you should do what you feel is best for you. I nearly chickend out of my surgery as well b/c I was afraid of complications, but I decided to go through with it (the attacks and fear of them was taking over my life) At first the pains were not too bad, every 6 months or so, but towards the end it was every few weeks. Thank god everything worked out for me. Everything is a risk. Make sure your DR is a real pro and very experienced in doing this type of surgery, it makes all the difference.
