If you decide not to have surgery you risk getting infection and having more attacks. GB stones are a disease and you will have them for life b/c your body will continue to produce stones. Right now I am feeling pretty good and I am glad that I had the surgery. For me, this option was better than the uncertainty of keeping a GB full of stones that could act up at anytime. Best of luck whatever you decide! If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
MidlothianGirl: It sounds like you are attempting to scare this poster into not at least trying flushing and changing his/her diet. There is no increased risk of "getting infection and having more attacks" on any level if the poster decides to change their diet and flush. As for this comment:
"GB stones are a disease and you will have them for life b/c your body will continue to produce stones".
Sorry, but that is just outright WRONG. Nothing could be further from the truth. Gallbladder stones are NOT some kind of "incurable disease", as you insinuate. They are mostly composed of cholesterol and are directly caused by too much animal protein and processed foods in the diet. They can safely be flushed out as many have proven, myself included.
Do you think that the people who have done flushes are too unsavvy or stupid to know that they are flushing out stones? We have people who have had ultrasounds showing that they flushed their stones; we have people who have had labs analyze their stones. We have people who have cured things that were considered "incurable". For you to say that the stones are some kind of disease and cannot be removed except for butchering ones's gallbladder (as BlueDuck like to say) is just simply WRONG.
For you to try and scare this poster like this is really inexcusable.
