While I was pretty sensitive to fruits and some other foods during my intestinal healing, supplemental enzymes were a God-send for me. They really took some of the burden off my digestive tract and pains were averted at many-a-meal. Thankfully, I no longer need the supplemental enzymes for basic digestion, but I do on occasion take a couple between meals for their scavenging capabilities. They can help to breakdown some pathogens and proteins that may get loose in the blood stream(from what I have read).

I, too, am hesitant to believe that the enzymes in raw foods can not help with the cooked foods at the same meal, so long as the cooked food contains the same nutrient(protein, fat, carb, etc) that is found in the raw food.

Enzymes are also very helpful in recovery from injury and physical training. Of course, most info is about proteolytic enzymes.

Of course, finally increasing my alkaline minerals did wonders for my ability to tolerate fruit in general, so the acid balancing was also crucial to my healing.
