I've had recurring sinus problems all my life. For me, the best treatment is just salt water irrigation. I first tried using a neti pot and it worked pretty well. Even better, for me, was using a Grossan Sinus Irrigator (you can see one at

The pulsing seemed that extra help get out all of the gunk. Also, you don't have to hold you head sideways ;^)
I personally never found need to buffer the salt water with baking soda, but everyone is different. If you get one, just make sure that you don't turn the power up to high. It could cause the infection to get driven deeper up you sinuses and not out.
