I think that the salt-water flush is intended as a one-off "emergency" kind of process. Not every day or even every week. But if for some reason a person gets incredibly uncomfortably constipated over several days, then clearing things out with a salt-water flush or colema is adviseable. But not as a regular crutch.

I would tend to agree with you, the salt water will draw water from other cells. But since it's a one-time thing, afterwards one will rehydrate with water, perhaps even an electrolyte beverage. Not continuing to guzzle sea-water, like people lost at sea.
