Has 'marks' provided a clue here when she writes:

" I have done nothing to clean my colon as Dr. Clark didn't really promote that as being important but the Epsom Salts really cleans me out thoroughly. I wonder if that is why I feel much better the day after the cleanse and then the symptoms return."

This makes me wonder if she is getting enough Magnesium and sulphur, both so necessary, in her diet.

Epsom Salt is Magnesium sulphate.
