Hi! I had the same "bomb shell" drop on me 2 month ego, pockets deep as 6/7/8 all my teeth went to see 2 perio, one wanted me to do the gum surgery with osseos graft and quoted me almost $10.000, the other one suggested a deep cleaning with roots planning and scaling the cost $140 per quadrant and since I'm an heavy smoker I give me an Antibiotic 20mg Perostat. I started to floss 3 to 4 times a day found a Sonycare 7800 toothbrush on ebay for $80 uncluding SSH, brushed my teeth 2/3 times daily using lifeextention mouthwash instead of 30 seconde in my mouth, I keep it for at least 5/10 minutes and I don't rince it with water and use peroxyde mixte with water 3 times per week. I went back to see the Perio 3 weeks after my deep cleaning, guess what? My pockets went from 6/7/8 to 2/3/4, and he still wanted me to do the surgery and you know why? MONEY!!MONEY!!I refused and went to see another one, he could't beleive!! to see gums in a such good conditions (pink and healthy) what he suggested is instead 6 month teeth cleaning, in my condition it will be better to do it every 2 month which is ok for me. I will suggest you to go for deep cleaning and ask your perio while he's doing it to insert small patches in your pockets thats contain Antibiotic to control bacteria and reduced pockets, here are some names of those: Periochip-Atridox-Actisite-Arestin and Periostat that you will have to take twice daily. KEEP FLOSSING! FLOSSING...that is the real FACT. Hope I help.
