Just a question...why did you go this dentist in the first place...did you have pain?? Or more for preventive reasons?

I myself am trying to learn more about this subject, and I have never had a Cavitat scan done. I am not sure what to think about the Science behind these scans, or how reliable they are. If you read the post by "healing," you will see that their dentist wanted to do spiral CT scans to assess the cavitations. Through my research, I have learned that these scans are quite reliable for producing an excellent, clear image of the jawbone. If you are interested, check out http://www.maxillofacialcenter.com Of course, some people are worried about radiation from these scans...but that is usually quite minimal, and I myself am more worried about undergoing a cavitation surgery without being sure of the diagnosis!

I have had many surgeries in my life, and I know just one thing: surgery should always be the LAST resort...so, I don't mean to scare you, and I certainly can't judge the validity of your dentist's diagnosis...but just carefully consider this before undergoing any type of surgery!

Let us know what you decide, good luck!
