well, I'm not a doctor nor am trying to convince you that you gave it to her or what ever. She could've gotten that from some one else. I just know 1 obvious thing and that is that all the doctors aren't up to date about this common disease. and I just added my 2 cents here as I've been reading a lot about this.
I have NEVER heard about harmless herpes so maybe your doctor is right but I wouldn't buy his words as they don't sound right to me.
And if no one has gotten back to you saying you gave them herpes could be because they don't know it yet or you just simply didn't give it to them. When you're infected that doesn't mean you're contagious all the time and the virus needs certain situation to enter you partner's body. I myself got genital type 1 after 2 years being with my bf and wasn't with any body else. So...he doesn't get cold sores at all nor has he had any girl coming to him screaming, I can't tell if he gave it to me for sure but ther's a strong possibility.
Oh, by the way I've heard that having type 1 anti bodies don't protect you from getting type 2, they just MAY slow down the development process of building the type 2 antibodies for a short while which you already have according to your test.
All I'm trying to say is, there's no absolute rules for herpes, It's very hard to track how and when you got it, and once you're exposed to the virus you're infected and that's it. I don't know if you want to convince yourself that you have a HARMLESS version of it then it's your choice ofcourse.
I don't knkow if I mentioned this in my previous post but read the herpes handbook at:

great info about types, tests and transmission rates.
good luck
