dentists cannot differentiate between the metals, so they would have to remove it and replace it if you don't know. but, someone said that hal huggins has a way of testing to see if it is mercury. so, go to his site and email him: hugnet.net. if you have the porcelain over nickel crowns, you would want to replace them anyway, as they are cancer causing.
