First of all, there is no need to feel suicidal about this since over 80% of the population has oral herpes.
A couple of things to understand is HSV1 (commonly known as oral herpes) can occur in the mouth and genitals, but primarily in the mouth area. HSV2 (commonly known as genital herpes) can occur in the mouth and genitals but primarily in the genitals. It would be good to know by doing a blood test to find out if you have antibodies for both HSV1 and HSV2.
Also, it is important to know why an outbreak can occur - one or more of the following can cause an outbreak. Illness, stress, fatigue, menstruation, sunburn, or sexual intercourse. To prevent an outbreak the best is to incorporate some preventive measures as part of your life style. Regular exercise, reducing stressful environment or situation, regular sleep cycles, keeping yourself well hydrated (water; not soda), more green vegetables/fruits in your diet will go a long way in preventing an outbreak.
As I said earlier, over 80% of the population has HSV1 as it gets transmitted very easily. Over 20% of the adult population has HSV2. (in the US). So definitely not something to die over. Think of it this way, herpes is just a skin disorder.
You can ask your doctor for Valtrex - which is very effective against both HSV1 and HSV2 (dosage differs) and is much better than Famvir. I have also heard garlic juice applied a couple of times over the sores helps much.
Also, over a period of time the outbreaks start slowing down usually. So, it is a matter of time.
You talked about your aloofness when working with kids - there is no need for it. Just ensure that you do not touch your sores and if you do, doubly ensure you wash your hands before touching anyone. Ideally, wash your hands as often as possible during the day (as it will also help against the common cold).
Please try not to be stressed out about this - many in this forum understand your situation. Please do use this forum to vent out your anxiety, pose questions and concerns. And good luck! :-)
