Almost a year ago I looked down and saw my left ankle quite swollen, like the size of a softball. I went to every kind of doctor, had every kind of test and they did nothing for me in the end, except give me a mild diuretic. I'm active, so my blood pressure runs on the low side, and they didn't want to give me a stron one. Still had the swelling. So I investigated bodywork and acupuncture. Both people said it was some kind of blockage in the kidney meridian. I have received some help from them, but it's wasn't gone entirely. I went to Maori healers recently for pretty intense body work. They said the legs are where our bodies store anxieties about boundaries with our parents. Since I have restless legs syndrome and was abused as a child, this really resonated with me. After my treatment, my legs and ankles looked considerably better. I didn't drink enough water today, and I saw a bit of the swelling in my left ankle start to come back. The Maoris also suggested putting cayenne pepper in my shoes occasionally and always wear socks, which I do even if my feet aren't cold. They also said the medication i take (klonopin) for the RLS is causing the edema. Has something to do with blocking the flow through the kidney meridian.
Has anyone else had experience with the Maori Healers?
I am taking Chinese herbs to help the kidney move fluids more efficiently as well. Am I just being impatient? I have a good diet...no junk foods, organic everything, and I don't drink much caffiene or alcohol. I don't care for sweets, unless it's fruit or fruit juice. I am type A blood.
Can anyone offer suggestions? Aside from the edema and the rls (which I hardly have anymore...I have weaned almost entirely off the klonopin after the Maori treatment) I feel great.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.
