I am sorry to hear about your dilemma Mom!! I had posted earlier in this forum about having hardware showing from a surgery due to a shattered ankle. I had the hardware exposed for over three monthes and finally in Jan. it was removed from that side. My DR had ordered a wound vac placed over the incision, even though it didnt close with the hardware inside my leg, after the hardware was removed, without any stitches, the wound vac was once again placed over the incision and in about 3 weeks it was closed!! The wound vac did a wonderful job, it not only accelerates in the healing process, but it helps to keep the area clean and free from infection.
