Ni Is Nickel and it is a toxic metal which can give some people problems but it is nowhere as toxic as mercury. Crowns can also be made of gold or with a gold insert. If you go with gold you would want to get a gold alloy that doesn't have palladium which is another toxic metal. I dont't know if anybody can say which is more toxic palladium or nickel, or exactly how toxic they are. Ceramic crowns contain some aluminum which is another toxic metal.
