My Grandmother is 85 and although that may seem old she has never had any serious health problems (other than the odd cold) and certainly no previous symptoms of Arthritis or stiffness in the joints. She has kept herself fit, with her older sister, walking across the South Downs between 5-10 miles each week, has never owned a car and walks to the shopping centre daily. On Friday September 16th this year she had a flu jab, as recommended by her doctor. During the night of Saturday 17th she was in tearful agony and unable to sleep with the pain in both her knees. She could not get out of bed the next day because of the pain and stiffness in her knees and for the first time in her life the doctor was called to make a house visit and she was later diagnosed with arthritis. The doctor stated that it was "coincidental" that these symptoms followed the flu jab. Her older sister (87) refused to have a flu jab and has no signs of Arthritis or stiffness in her joints. There is no history of any Arthritis in the family. I do not believe this is a coincident.
