If you're vaccinated against a particular virus and you're then exposed to that virus it could save you a lot of suffering even save your life.

One thing they don't tell you though.

Most viruses like influenza mutate very quickly and by the time you catch them the vaccine is innoculation against a different strain of flu and highly unlikely to be effective.
