A traditional skin cleanser that is often used in India is chickpea flour (called chana besan in Indian markets), mixed into a paste with a little rosewater, milk or just plain water. You apply this to a moistened face, massage gently in circular motions, then rinse off.
I like to massage my face with a little sesame oil first, then use the besan paste over the oil. It absorbs the excess oil and leaves my skin clean and moist.
You can add powdered herbs like neem to the mixture if you have heated skin conditions like breakouts.
