My hair is very dry. I have been putting coconut oil on it. It is so dry, that I leave the coconut oil on it ~!

I tie mine back too. I use a velvet hair scrunchie, which is pretty gentle on it. I would never use a rubber band or even those elastic things. They weaken and break the hair shaft. I do not tie my hair back tightly either. That alone can cause damage. I leave the scrunchie loose. I do not use any metal barettes or any other metal things. Get a boar's hair, hair brush. They are great !

Do cut off split or broken ends. Once a hair has split or broken it will just keep breaking off and the hair ends up shorter.

Use a mild shampoo, preferably one without a mile long ingredient list. Same with conditioner. Try and get some without a lot of chemicals.
