Get some Vitamin C at the store if you don't have any and start taking it immediately, several times a day every few hours. Take a hot bath with a bit of Epsom Salts to induce sweating and drink plenty of fluids. Don't put much stress on your body.

I don't know anything about the doctor mentioned.
