small independant bee product producers depend on the health of their hive for continued success. if the collection of pollen were killing large numbers of their hive it would be pointless. they NEED the bees to stay alive and keep doing their thing. i have never heard of this method of collecting pollen by destroying the bees and in fact it makes no sense to me at all.

now, perhaps there are large factory bee product producers that use means i don't know about and employ measures that are cruel, this is possible. but the average bee keeper often cares deeply about his or her hive and feels very connected to the bees, and works tirelessly to make sure the hive stays happy and healthy.

if its something that worries you i would suggest finding a bee keeper in your area nad talking to them about the method they use to collect pollen, that may put your mind to rest.
