...When you say, "...A terrific message."
I think so, too. People need to know, specifically, what these concoctions are, and what they do.
[[ Editing: My view of the CureZone has been odd today. I couldn't see JMRN's last post until now. I'm off to read it. Great info, eh? ]]
There's been a lot in the media about Mountain Dew in the past couple of years, as far as I remember. Particularly slanted directly at children/young people, who are discovering the 'hit' it gives them.
Somewhere on CureZone I read that Aspertame (MSG) may be responsible for MS. Maybe the following story will shed some light on that...
I love a woman who won't hear anything about 'healthy living'. She is like a sister that I never had.
She has a natural sister who needs care. This gal has been a victim of the breast implant controversy, plus she has MS, in spades.
Still, she drinks Diet Pepsi as though it is going out of fashion.
The sister I am close to complains about that (!), even though she, herself has been popping straight Aspartame for years, as a back-up to her high-protein weight-loss diet (which hasn't ever brought her weight to where she wants to be).
Both sisters were raised on a limited diet because their momma has no imagination in cooking, or choosing, food. My friend has very decided tastes and makes sure that her food contains only what she 'likes'. For example, when she eats at my house, the ketchup magically appears on the table. (We have ketchup in the fridge because one of the people at our house wasn't as convinced about healthy eating up until about a year ago.)
She also whisks out 'plain' foods before we add anything she doesn't 'like'.
She would be devastated to know what she looks like doing all this. Yet, she wonders why her ill sister hangs on to Diet Pepsi. Go figure.
CureZone poster, 'Kalliopi', on the other hand, trained herself to detect MSG, makes everything from scratch, questioned manufacturers, and improved her own and her husband's health BEFORE reporting to us (and to everyone else who cares to read).
To me, Kalliopi provides the most credible 'anecdotal' evidence I've ever seen. ( //www.curezone.org/forums/m.asp?f=598&i=26 )
'Anecdotal' evidence is where it's at, I think. That's what we offer each other on these boards. The value of this evidence is testified to by the fact that we don't attach money/profit to our posts.
I still maintain that food profiteers are shooting themselves in the foot by ignoring the customers who would buy quality 'food products' if they were affordable, and truly health-giving...not just pretending to be. Think of the savings in their liability insurance, alone!
People like the good person who started this thread have somehow acquired a nervous point-of-view, and take these jolts of so-called foods/drinks to shock their systems into not caring, at least for a while.
So do druggies.
So do smokers. (Blush!)
We have to break the chain of addiction! And, help each other. Not until enough people are aware of the truth, and wanting to buy only wholesome products, will the food industry change. They will be forced to change because the marketplace won't buy unwholesome stuff.
I mean, look what's going on in the automobile industry. WE are in charge!
Luckily, addiction to Mono-Sodium-Glutamat (Natrium Glutamat) (which is in Aspartame, I am told) is quite easy to break. Once we get used to eating wholesome food, our tastes change.
We have a male friend who has destroyed his esophogus (sp?) with diet pop (Diet Coke). Now he must (?) take medication for life...or so he's been told.
He drinks lots of water, but I suspect he is substituting some other manufactured 'drinks' from time to time. ...Probably because he hasn't yet altered the rest of his diet. He is teetering on the brink of discovery, I think.
He'd believe me, I think, if I told him flat out. But that isn't the way to deliver the effective message, to my mind.
With him, and with my favorite lady, we've tried to be encouraging...praising their every success, and trying to help by example.
When I beat my own obstacles, I'll be an excellent billboard, won't I?
I've come to the point where I think our answer lies in the level of energy we maintain.
We get high energy from the posts on this bulletin board...thank goodness!
