Hi there
I'm new to the forum and was wondering if anyone could offer their advice on something. I'm 26 and have had a chronic lung problem (phlegm, bronchospasm, normal ChestXR, repeated infection) for 2 years ever since an episode of pnuemonia. It didn't respond to any conventional medicine, but has been gradually improving with chinese herbal therapy and dietry changes. I've begun to realise that my (extremely unhealthy!) lifestyle was probably the reason I never recovered fully from the pnuemonia.
I've gradually improved my lifestyle but it's only over the past 12 days that I've been eating a completely organic diet with no mucus-forming foods, no alcohol, lots of fresh fruit and veg juice etc. My concern is that I felt I was developing a cold a couple of days ago, but although I had a headache and sore throat, I did not have other 'cold symptoms'. I now however am suddenly coughing up lots more phlegm (yellow) than previously, but it is a lot easier to cough up and I have no bronchospasm. I would normally take Antibiotics as I'm extremely susceptible to bacterial infection but I am wondering if this a reaction to detoxification.
I'm actually a recently qualified doctor and find it really hard to reconcile a lot of the theory behind detox with what I've learnt in my training. I'm very open-minded however! and would really appreciate any opinions anyone would like to offer. I think what I'm saying is I find it hard to believe in detoxification reactions or retracing, and would like to hear from people with their own experiences to help me understand what's going on with me.
Thanks for listening to my rather long question :)
Jen
