My first impression is that a functional MRI would be needed to get a better idea.
There are several scans that can be done such as a PET scan or as SPECT scan.
THe meaning of a hot spot can vary and I woul;d not want to venture a guess.
No matter what is going on I would review my dietary habits, cleanse and detox so the body can tune in and heal itself.
