You've mentioned taking vitaminC; when ill and otherwise in doubt, increase your vitamin C, and I'm not talking about casual doses here. Assuming you have a good quality powdered form and that you are familiar with what your bowell tolerance level is, take a bit less than that, orally, every 3 to 4 hours until conditions improve. This is safe and proven for numerous ills, nothing to lose, everything to gain.
