Im am here and am happy to give you an update. I am exhausted from reading the last few posts. Tobi, RELAX. Appreciate your enthusiasm, but scaring the crap out of people is not really what this forum is about (or not in my opinion). I enjoy your posts and feel I learn some great ideas (ie salt water rinses), but I agree with PB that you are being somewhat of an alarmist. Reacting in this manner has the potential to make one act impulsively which as we all know can have detrimental effects as much as doing nothing. Also if it was the diamond crown material, why is only 1 tooth bothering me and not all of them?
Anyway here is my update....The dentist has adjusted my bite twice. Still have some sensitivity to cold, and to pressure. It is weird, I can brush my teeth, chew on a peice of plastic like the dentist had me do when I went back, and have him poke and poke and poke at the filling and it will feel FINE. Then later Ill be chewing on chicken salad or something and wham it will hurt. Although I can bite on a pretzel and it will be ok...so it is not consistent pain. It will hurt and ache for about an hour and then will be fine again. Also another very strange thing is that a tooth that he didnt even touch or work on at all has hurt me on and off as well. Its like phamtom pain. I told him and he referred to my x-rays and says it looks fine. I have a history of being somewhat somatic so Im taking this all with a grain of salt. His advice was if the pain and cold sensitivitry are not gone by the time I get back from vacation (going to mexico next week!) to return and he will replace the filling as there may be a tiny airpocket in it.
In the meantime I am going to go on vacation and have a blast and not worry about my tooth nerve committing suicide.
In many ways I preferred being clueless and uneducated about stuff because I worried alot less! Ahhh those were the days :)
PB - I love your approach to things, laid back and smooth. You have a way of putting people at ease. You should be a therapist :)
