Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone can help me identify the problem I got. I don't know what it could be and I did check around on the net already and other forums.
I got some inflammation at my fingers, which makes them swell and turn red and itch and feel hot. I only get it at my fingers, and it worsens and lessens with certain things I eat. If I don't eat much or avoid some things it slowly goes away, but the last few weeks it came back and remained more and more.
I have noticed that all the sulfur containing foods seem to make the swelling flare up and actually cause new inflammations where I had none. Watercress does it, garlic, onion, MSM, and even simple peppers or spicy foods. Whenever I eat something that contains any of the above, within a few minutes my fingers turn red and itch. I thought it might have been just sulfur causing it, but I also noticed that if I get a high Sugar rush, that the itching also resurgitates. If I drink a can of Schweppes Indian Tonic or Coca Cola (caffeinefree, I quit caffeine about a month ago), I also get it. Hence I wonder perhaps I'm not sulfur sensitive but I have something like Candida or gout?
I used to drink a lot of Red Bull energy drinks, but strangely these did not cause that red swelling if I didn't overdo on them. Eating dates did cause it however. So since dates are high in Sugar and Sugar feeds candida, I figured perhaps I have candida overgrowth or another yeast infection. But why would sulfur-containing foods cause it to resurgitate? They definitely do because even eating some watercress or a clove of garlic on an empty stomach will make the inflammation on my fingers turn red and itch.
I'm normally not someone with many problems or who had many. I'm still young (25), 195 cm, weigh between 65-70 kg, am lean/slim and have quite a fast metabolism. I used to have some acne(not much, was from efas and junk fats) and feel energyless, but I changed around my diet and now I actually don't really have any problem except that I still have a fast metabolism and got that red swelling at my fingers.
If someone could clarify any possible connection between sulfur and sugar and that swelling I'd be grateful.
Thanks.
