Hi Hoppy -
You just happened to catch me online - what fun!
Hmmm yeah, I know that many people are big advocates of the brewer's yeast/nutritonal yeast flakes as they are high in the B vitamins, etc. I'm not such a big fan, however. Every time I eat them - which is very rare as I avoid them - I tend to have a severe reaction -- headache, get really tired and spacey, etc.
Based on my own personal reaction and that of others I have worked with that are sensitive, I just don't trust them. Tend to have a "when in doubt, do without" attitude about them.
But, as I always say: "The proof is in the pudding." If they work for you, that's great. I would just be sure that they are in fact "working for you" by testing them for sensitivity.
There is a big debate about yeasts and fermented foods when it comes to candida, for example. Many believe that you should stay away from all forms of yeast - and that yes, of course they would be moldy/fungusy/yeasty just by their very nature.
Once again, experiment and see what works for you.
Hope that helps!
Kelly
