Kelly, thank you for that excellent post! I am glad to hear that you have "been there, done that" in several different ways of eating/schools of thought. The place you are at now sounds really balanced. It is similar (to some extent) to what I have gone through.
I didn't have any bad health problems, though.
I grew up eating a reasonably healthy average american diet (whole wheat bread, little junk food). Then I became interested in nutrition and started reading all these books and decided that vegetarian, then vegan, was the way to go. Did that for a little while. Realized HEY I really enjoy meat and I don't feel bad when I eat it. So now I eat anything that I consider "real food" (fruits, vegetables, beans, grains, hormone/antibiotic free meat, fish, some oils and organic butter). I don't necessarily eat meat every day, but when I eat it I don't feel guilty. I also usually only drink water, herbal teas, green tea, and fresh juice (sometimes). I don't touch soft drinks, sports drinks, dead juice, etc.

I did stop eating dairy products and that made the most noticeable difference in my health, eliminating my allergies and clearing up my skin. I do eat butter and very occasionally cheese.

That doesn't mean this is how I'll eat forever, but for now I have come to a good balance. For me the main thing is not eating things with all the chemicals and harmful oils and tons of refined carbs, like potato chips, donuts, and soft drinks. AKA JUNK FOOD!
Again, thank you for your post, I am really glad to read it.
One other thing: Welcome to Curezone! I'm glad to see that you are connected here, familiar with what is going on in some other forums.
