i htink that is a great question. i am one of those people most consider "mature" and all that. but like you i have those inner insecurities and emoitonal demands that sometimes just won't shut up. i think you might really get something out of the link i provided in the post just below, its a site devoted to the inner child and issues thereof, i learned a lot by reading thru some of the articles there.
personally i think that sometimes you have to give your inner child free reign, BUT! you have to do so with eyes wide open watching exactlyt o see what the ramifications of your actions are and how they affect you, the people you love, and your relationships. even if you correctly identify some inner urging as childish and immature if its an ever presnet thing, then constantly repressing it aint' gonna work on a long term basis.
the thing is the inner child is not supposed to be driving the bus. we don't give drivers liscences to chidren for a reason. your inner child shouldn't be in control, that leads to chaos and hurt. but ignoring a wounded inner child also leads to emotional ruin. so i guess your situation may mean that there is some unresolved emotional needy needy issues to deal with. the best thing to do is ask yourself why you feel this way and go from there. the inner child inside knows the answer to that question and will answer it if you ask and then listen. from there its a healing journey.
