We know that this particular pandemic will most likely not happen, but I would much rather have a bunch of chicken littles running around watching for it than to be blindsided by this or any other pandemic.

There have been pandemics throughout history and the truth is that most of them were brought on man by his own ignorance. Most of them were started from wars and the horrible conditions that wars create. Some have been caused by plain filth and unsanitary conditions which abound in poverty.

The problem with influenza is that it is the product of filth. Almost every flu outbreak originated among people living with poultry and swine and basically living at close to the same level of sanitation. They wear the excrement of poultry on their bodies and clothes, do not bath or if they do, it is in contaminated water. They go to bed wearing the same filth. They breath it in. It is on their hands when they eat. They eat poultry and swine that die in the pens pecause they can not afford to waste. This is all that they have.

The real root of this threat is poverty. I am not talking about the mild form of poverty that persists here in the US ( yes, I know that not all of it is mild, some is quite extreme ). I am talking about the really extreme poverty that exists in countries like Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Kenya, Namibia, Zambia, basically in most third world countries around the world. These are the breeding grounds for the illness that really threaten our future existance.

Until this poverty is properly addressed, we will always be facing the possibility of some pandemic. Poverty is the breeding ground of illness, epidemics, and pandemics.

All illness producing creatures mutate just as non-illness producing creatures do. Some of these mutations will be so incompacitated that they will cease to exist but others can become incredibly virulent. This is one reason that these virologist are crying "fowl", they know that this can happen and they want to help as many people as possible to survive. If this is for their own glory, so that they can say I told you so, so what. Who cares which virologist is posted as virologist of the year. Someone will get the honor.

Personally, I say let the "chicken littles" run around screaming that the sky is falling. I will even take an occasional peak up toward the sky for self-assurance, but you will not find me cowering in a hole. Neither will you see me out carrying a sign saying "the end is nigh". But you also will not see me turning my nose up at the idea and scoffing at it because it has happened before and every time that it has happened, the people of the world were not ready for it.

Those who want to claim that there is some sort of Conspiracy to sell vaccinations, I do not argue with that although I have not seen anything to convince me. Those who claim that viri do not exist and that they are not a threat, sorry, I have seen enough that I know that these things are real and that they can easily kill. These individuals are plainly lacking something. To those who want to hide their heads in the sand, go ahead.

The truth is that a lack of knowlege is our worst enemy. As it was stated historically, thousands of years ago, "know your enemy".
