When my mother was 73, she suffered a stroke and could not eat on her own. A feeding tube was inserted for her to receive the basic nutrition needed to keep her alive. Eventually, she regained her ability to eat with her mouth and the feeding tube was removed. She lived another 3 years before she died of an infection contracted at the nursing home. Am I glad that no one even for one moment considered removing my mother's feeding tube? Absolutely! Do I believe that God wanted my mother to live another three years? Absolutely!

Who determines who's feeding tube should be removed? The courts? We certainly don't have Terri's wishes on the matter - and yet the courts have decided for her (based on some questionable testimony by her husband).
