yeah i haer you on that one, but mindell has done some superb research in a lot of areas such as using natural supplements to overcome mental health issues instead of pharmacueticals, and many other things. personally i am experimenting with taking no supplements at all, and just getting my nutrition from all natural sources (you know like "food") so i don't read any of his stuff anymore, but his book was invaluable when i was doing supplements. it has a lot of good info in there. i did not know that he was had written a book on the goji though. i too am suspsicious when the marketing machinery cranks up for the latest miracle food that will solve all your health problems.
