Hi,
There is definitely hope. I had my 8 Amalgams replaced in Aug/Sept 02. Since then I've been chelating according to Andy Cutler's protocol (see www.noamalgam.com or www.autism-mercury@yahoogroups.com for info on his protocol).
I have improved so much since I first started. Many neurological, emotional and physical symptoms have cleared up. For example, no more brain fog, no dyslexia, no more constant irritability. My sense of smell returned after about 10 years of being barely there, my candida is under control, I can sleep at night, no more anxiety attacks.
I am not 100% recovered but I have hope that I will be able to make a close-to-complete recovery within 6-9 months, as long as I am able to continue chelating.
A lot of the improvement came with chelation (pulling the mercury and arsenic out). A lot of it came with dietary changes---I've been on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet for over 2 years, since before I got my mercury poisoning diagnosis. And some comes from emotional work I've done through Landmark Education (large group awareness workshops) and psychotherapy.
It's been a tough road but I feel I am through the worst of it. Just focus on getting the mercury out and going on a healthy diet--eat organic veggies, grass-fed beef, wild alaskan salmon, and no refined sugar, grains or soy--get exercise and fresh air, and have some sort of support system. Andy Cutler recommends a lot of supplements in his book that do help with a lot of the symptoms.
Good luck!
Julie
