Dear Chron'ers,
I've been doing the Liver Flushes for several years and they work great for me. I believe all of the stories on the flushes, because I have seen all of the same positive results. I actually had 4 doctors laugh in my face when I told them what I was doing do fix my "fatty liver disease". By the way, none of these doctors had any idea of why I had this problem or what to do about it. I'm not sure if Liver Flushes will help your chrons, but it shouldn't hurt too much, if you can temporarily get your bowels healed.

Now, to Chrons.
My 12 year old has had Chrons for several years - he almost died at the peak. The funky doctors were the same way as with my liver problem. They didn't know what it was or what to do - they just threw steroids and other immunosuppressant drugs at him. Imagine a 10 year old boy growing long sideburns, a hairy back and sometimes aggressive at school (normally a quiet, calm kid). However, we believe we whipped it without too much help from the doctors (keeping our fingers crossed).

Try the Strict Carbohydrate Diet. The results were almost immediate (within a week) for our son. There is some woman who wrote the book some 20-30 years ago because her daughter had Chrons. We are convinced the diet works. Get on it. It is a bit of a pain to get used to, but it worked wonders and our son has not relapsed since. In short, get off of carbs (TOTALLY), milk, store-bought yogurt, soft cheese, Sugar and any grain products. Yeah, no bread, either. You can buy big bags of almond flower and make your own breads, muffins, cakes, etc, BUT using honey, NO SUGAR. You can eat all the meat, HARD cheeses, fruits and veggies you want, but ease off of the fibrous veg's until you get your gut healed. You can make your own yogurt, but you have to follow a strict process.

Current theory in the past 2 years (lead by the Germans) is that the disease comes from a very tough, slow growing bacteria that is in most milk products. Even pasturization does not kill the bacteria and it could take 6-9 months just to culture it, so there is no way to tell if someone really has the bacteria in the gut. Most people (and cows) are very tolerant of this bacteria, but some people are not. This is not lactose intolerance - - different thing.

Other parents started finding out about this about the time that we did and 5 out of 5 kids all successfully and quickly pushed Chron's into remission (everyone did it without endorsement from the doctors). But the doctors were extremely interested in the results.

There are probably other groups out there on this topic. Go check it out.

Bob
