It is very unlikely that things will change if he is not sure of what he wants to do with himself, much less what he wants to do with your relationship. An abused victims need a lot of counseling and it is extremely difficult for the partner to relate to much of the mood swings, however understanding you can be.

What I would suggest is for you to really think whether you can continue living the way it is at present. And if not, to prepare yourself to leave this relationship before you get deeper in the hurt. It is very tough because you love this man but for that, you must have the strength to support him and push him into therapy. The outcome is not guaranteed.
