Jay...do yourself a big favour and get a copy of Steven Covey's book called The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
This book may give you insight into a few things at this trying time in your life. Take your relationship a day at a time and move forward without dwelling on the past. As far as the pot goes...dead end street. It is unhealthy in so many ways. Find common ground yes but not intoxicated ground. Share some hobbies, activities and other interests. Live by example.
