We don't even own a debit card. There is so little protection when people take money out of your bank account.
We charge everything on credit cards, and pay them off monthly, in this way you can call the creditcard company and they will stop the payment. There is also a limit of $50 liability (at least in Massachusetts) so the bank can't get more from you in case your card is stolen or so.
