Hi Billdance, Fish Oil is a good supplement because at least it is not synthetic. Most Vitamin supplemts that contain Beta-Carotene which is the pre-vitamin A source are generally synthetically manufactured in labs to emulate the natural Beta-Carotene molecule. It is possible to find organic Beta-Carotene supplements that simply concentrate the naturally occuring substance from certain fruits and vegetables (mainly the bright orange ones as Beta-Carotene gives them their colour). However, if you want to ingest Vitamin A internally your better off simply having a glass of juiced carrot juice everyday. Two juiced carrots will easily give you your daily allowance. Moreover, the body can easily eliminate excess amounts of natural Beta-Carotene and simply not convert it into Vitamin A if it doesn't need it. I personally have a juiced Carrot,Beet and Celery dring about an hour before dinner. It takes the edge off my hunger and is an excellent Cancer preventing Anti-oxidant cocktail with Liver enhancing properties that also provides natural pre-Vitamin A and also gives you almost a slight healthy tan colouring all year around. Moreover, it is documented to help the skin fight the damaging effects of the sun and will also help you tan quicker in summer aswell. A winner all around!!! However, if you find yourself going a little too orange (ie: noticably) then just reduce the Carrot juice contant but don't eliminate it. Also Billdance, don't get confused with Vitamin A for the skin and Vitamin A for ingestion. Beta-Carotene (nuturally sourced is preferable) is the best form for ingestion, but for the skin pure Vitamin A (forms of Retinol) is essential as the skin cannot convert Beta-Carotene to Vitamin A and therefore it is useless on the skin. That is why I suggested pure Vit A like fish oils and especially Retynils (Retinol Esthers) in liquid or cream form which are well absorbed by the skin. Taking both Vitamin A (via Beta-Carotene) for ingestion and applying pure Vitamin A (Retynils, Fish Oil) on the skin itself is the best, as you are treating it from both sides. Internally and Externally. Hope that helps Tom
