If you can find an Asian store in your area, they should definitely stock mung beans. I can see them at loads of Asian stores in the UK, they cost about a pound for a kilogramme and last ages because you soak them and they obviously grow in size.

Also, if you want to make Indian chai from scratch you can buy fresh cardomom, cloves, etc from there too.
