Apparently this isn't much cartilage there. They have done two surgeries on the knee already (not replacements). He has had so many surgeries and for some reason has developed a real fear about this surgery, not to speak of the career issues with the time off. He is a commission only salesperson so time off is an issue and ability to be mobile is crucial.

He has a lot of pain and mobility problems and I realize that nothing short of surgery is going to help when there is no cartilage, but I was just wondering if there was something that would help over the next month or two while he is arranging to have the surgery.
