I've always kept track of the moon for a few things. I was fascinated by applied astrology/astronomy and looked up whether we really are affected by the moon, and yep, we are! People who work in emergency jobs and customer service know that the crazies and accidents increase during a full moon. They know it, they see it every month. Since our culture no longer has to rely on the Farmer's Almanac for our survival, we've completely lost touch with nature's rhythms and it's too bad. We can use them to our advantage!
If you want to experience a bit of boost to your efforts whether cleansing or rebuilding or even getting a haircut, it really helps to make note of the moon phase and time things accordingly.
The New Moon is when it is hidden from view, waiting to return to our sight. This is a very cleansing time for the planet and us too, so all flushes will be helped by New Moon energy. It also represents new beginnings, as it is the beginning of the moon's cycle, so if you wish to begin new habits or end old habits like smoking, this is the best time.
the Waxing moon is next - the orb getting larger and larger each night. This is the best time for building up nourishment, muscle mass, working out, eating liver. ;) There's a link to a calendar of moon phases below, you can see that this phase lasts approximately 13 days.
The Full Moon is the absolute worst time to have any kind of operation done, as we bleed more profusely during a full moon. Don't get your teeth worked on, even! The power of herbs increase, so this is a good time to do herbal teas. Accidents are on the rise when the moon is full, so plan your travels around them if you can.
The Waning moon is next, again, about 13 days for this phase too. The opposite of a Waxing moon, the cycle is winding down. This is the best time for operations, dental work, even getting a hair cut, as the hair will grow slower and your cut will last longer. Of course, if you get a hair stylist that cuts a mite too short, that wouldn't be so great. ;)
