In allopathic medicine, SIBO is treated with Antibiotics . Studies have found that enteric coated peppermint oil is also an effective treatment. I have been using PO for almost 3 weeks now, and will stop on Monday. I will be starting GSE(grapefruit seed extract) on Monday for 2 weeks to help eliminate any unaffected microbes.

Right now, there is not a forum for SIBO. However, it seems to be so closely tied to candida, that this seems to me to be the best place to discuss it. It makes it easier for sufferers to make the connection and keeps info close at hand.

As for a SIBO cleanse, it seems that the most important things are clearing the SIBO from the small intestine, and figuring out what conditions allowed the SIBO to occur. As this is different for everyone, I can't say what is the best route for the majority of people. I do feel that it starts with either digestion, absorption, or assimilation of nutrients. If either is disrupted then disease occurs. Check for individual allergies, nutritional deficiencies, and food sensitivities that can irritate the GI tract.

Good luck!
